The Best Desktop Replacement Laptops
(Part One)
Looking to sell your laptop for something more powerful? If you have plenty (seriously, plenty) of cash to spare, then you should take a look at a desktop replacement laptop. Wait a minute, a what?
A desktop replacement laptop is a laptop that seeks to be powerful enough to make you replace your desktop computer. Typically, laptops are underpowered because they’re smaller, and therefore contain lower – end parts to grant portability.
For desktop replacement laptops though, they’re big, and are able to fit in big parts like dual video cards and three hard drives. That means these laptops are big and very powerful, but also expensive. There’s a huge price tag for desktop replacement laptops. Expect to pay prices of more than 1500 bucks! While it’s expensive, it’s worth it because you can take a powerful computer with you wherever you go.
Now, if you’re going to sell your laptop for a desktop replacement laptop, look for these two:
Origin EON17 – S
If you don’t know Origin, it’s okay. You might have your doubts at first, but you’ll be happy to know that Origin is a small company that’s made up of former Alienware employees, a company known for gaming laptops. With that in mind, expect Origin laptops to pack a punch.
One of the first things you’ll notice about the laptop is that it’s just big. It has a monster 17 inch screen and weighs at least 9 pounds.
The case looks generic; that’s because it is. The case comes from Clevo, a Taiwanese company that sells laptops, but also sells laptop casings to boutique builders, Origin being one of them.
Even so, expect that everything inside is all made by Origin. It has a big keyboard where you can change the colors for up to three areas, similar to Alienware laptops.
The real winner here though is the hardware. You have 16 GB of RAM, two 120 SSD for storage and the recently released third generation Intel Core i7 processor. It has a standard speed of 2.9 GHz, but it can be overclocked. For the graphics, it uses NVIDIA GeForce graphics, as well as Intel HD 4000.
If you’re looking to sell your laptop for a laptop that doesn’t look flashy, get this one. If flashy is your style, then buy this next laptop.
Alienware M18x
One of the most popular gaming laptop makers out there, Alienware isn’t for the modest. Their products are an all – out assault on performance and the eyes.
Their products are uniquely designed. Pretty much anything that has lights coming out can be changed with different colors and that’s just the start. Their laptops also have a unique styling akin to an alien ship, hence their name.
Of course, they have an out – of – this – world performance too. The M18x boasts 16 GB of RAM and 750 GB of memory. On top of that, there’s also the customary Intel Core i7 processor with 2.5 GHz of power.
If you’re looking to stand out, this is the way to go.
